Healthy Food Environments at Recreation Facilities

Recreation facilities are cornerstones of the community. They provide safe spaces where members of the community come to engage in recreation and physical activity, meeting rooms for community groups, and are key environments for promoting health and wellness.

But have you thought about the foods being served at our community facilities? Research shows that kids who play sports consume more fast food and sugary drinks than kids who don't. Healthy eating not only supports athletic performance but also academic and work performace, positive behaviour, attention, focus and a variety of health benefits.

The environments in which we live influence our behaviour. Schools, recreation facilities, and workplaces are just some of the places that can be impacted.  Having a healthy food environment supports the student/member/employee to make healthy food choices.  Let's make the healthy choice the easy choice

The link to the video below was produced by Ever Active Schools and will change the way you think about our food environments.
